Be very afraid: Mary Jane Maffini, Vicki Delany, Barbara Fradkin, R.J. Harlick, and Anthony Bidulka will put a new cultural slant to our country, in the panel O Canada: Crime North of the Border on Thursday, October 15, 4:30 - 5:25 pm at Bouchercon 2009 (The world mystery convention) in Indianapolis. During The Heart of Niagara Reading Series, Mary Jane Maffini will be reading from Death Loves a Messy Desk (Berkley Prime Crime), The Dead Don't Get Out Much and Too Hot to Handle (both RendezVous Crime) at Wednesday, October 21 at 2 pm at Pelham Public Library, 43 Pelham Town Square, Fonthill. 905-892-6443. Tickets: $7.00 The event will be followed by sale of books and signing, schmoozing too.



Mary Jane will read again at October 21, 7:00 pm, this time as part of Public Library Week, at Fort Erie Public Library, Centennial Branch, 136 Gilmore Road, Fort Erie ON 905-871-2546 Tickets are $2.00. Death Loves a Messy Desk (Berkley Prime Crime), The Dead Don't Get Out Much and Too Hot to Handle (both RendezVous Crime) and other titles will be available for sale and signing.



Mary Jane Maffini, Barbara Fradkin, John Moss and Giles Blunt will be reading and entertaining as part of the second annual "Writers Reading" event sponsored by the Westport Arts Council. The event is slotted for Sunday October 25th in at the Westport United Church at the corner of Spring and Church Streets in Westport, Ontario.

September 11th, Ottawa mystery authors, Brenda Chapman and C.B. Forrest drove to the Lighthouse Bookstore in Shawville, Quebec to read from their latest books. After eating a fine meal in the restaurant attached to the bookshop, Brenda and C.B. read passages from Trail of Secrets and The Weight of Stones. They received a warm welcome and afterwards enjoyed talking with all who came out for the evening.
